1.(of food, especially bread and cake) no longer fresh and therefore unpleasant to eat
eg. He had a stale cake this morning.
他今早吃了一块不新鲜的面包。

2. (of air, smoke, etc.) Stale air or a stale smells is unpleasant because it is no longer fresh.
eg. I can’t stand the stale cigarette smoke.
我无法忍受污浊的烟味。

3.something that is stale has been said or done too many times before and is no longer interesting or exciting。
eg. His always likes telling stale jokes.
他总爱讲些老掉牙的笑话。

4.If you feel stale, you are bored because you have no new ideas or enthusiasm for what you are doing.
eg. Jimmy felt stale after years of work at the same office.
Jimmy年复一年的在同一件办公室工作后感到很厌倦。

stale的有四个意思,分别是1.(食物)不新鲜的,变味的;2.(空气、气味)不新鲜的,污浊的;(地3.方、活动或观点)令人厌倦的,缺乏新鲜感的;4.厌倦的;腻烦的
