harangue  [hə’ræŋ]
1. v. If someone harangues you, they try to persuade you to accept their opinions or ideas in a forceful way.
eg.Jack walked to the front desk and began to harangue the audience.
Jack走到前台并且开始努力说服观众。

2. n. a long loud angry speech that criticizes somebody/something or tries to persuade people to do something.
eg.We had to listen to a long harangue about our own shortcomings.
我们必须去听一有关我们缺点的长篇大论。

harangue作动词时候意思就是努力说服;鼓动 ;作名词时候的意思就是慷慨激昂的劝说;喋喋不休的劝说。
